About Robert Irwin

Robert Irwin is an award winning nature photographer and wildlife warrior who travels the world in search of incredible images of wildlife and wild places to raise awareness for the environment.

 

From a very young age Robert has been fascinated with the natural world. He and his family own and operate Australia Zoo and a non-profit environmental organisation called 'Wildlife Warriors' supporting conservation projects around the globe. His photos have been featured in photography galleries throughout Australia and have toured in exhibitions around the world. His work is also on display at Australia Zoo in a photography gallery and photography retail range. Robert's work has been been recognised in many photography awards and competitions including; Winner of the Wildlife Photographer of The Year People's Choice Award 2020, selected as Highly Commended in the Wildlife Photographer of The Year Awards 2018, highly honoured in Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice International Photography Awards 2018 and 2019, Commended in the Birdlife Australia Photography Awards 2019, the junior runner up in the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of Year competition 2016 and 2020, and a finalist in 2017, 2018 and 2019, winner of the Wondai Regional Art Gallery Peoples Choice Award and a winner in the Glass House Mountains Rotary Calendar Photographic Competition 2017. Furthermore, he has also been involved as a judge in many photo contests such as the National Geographic Kids Photo Contest and the Crikey Magazine Photo Competition yearly.

 

Robert is also the leading photography contributor to the Australia Zoo Crikey magazine. He has embarked upon many photography expeditions around the globe from the savannas of Africa to the mountains of New Zealand, the wilderness of Europe and everywhere in between.

Robert uses his passion for photography to contribute to wildlife conservation by raising funds and awareness for conservation issues and projects. He has also met with world leaders such as His Royal Highness Prince Charles to discuss the protection of natural habitat.

 

Aside from photography, Robert has starred in Logie and Emmy nominated shows Wild but True and Steve Irwin’s Wildlife Warriors and published his own book series. Alongside his family, Robert stars in the Animal Planet Show, Crikey! It's the Irwin's. Along with his sister, Bindi, he was named in the Time 100 Next list as an influential voice in the field of conservation. He also appeared as the animal presenter for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
