In other “movie castings that never happened” news, Jennifer Lawrence auditioned for the lead role in 2010’s Easy A, which starred Emma Stone.

What makes this intel so special, however, is that Lawrence told her buddy how bad she wanted the part, leading to a priceless conversation between Oscar winners.

Joining Jessica Chastain, Saoirse Ronan, Mary J. Blige, and Allison Janney in The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual actress roundtable, the stars were running down favorite lines from their own characters. Lawrence’s was “You are not a stand-up guy” from Silver Linings Playbook. Stone’s was “Piss off, Quiznos” from Easy A.

“I auditioned for Easy A. I wanted it so bad,” Lawrence remarked.

“Well, guess what?” Stone laughed. “You didn’t get it. You didn’t get it because you suck!”

“Outside,” Lawrence joked.

The biggest sadness is that this interaction hasn’t been released on video…yet.

Lawrence and Stone became bffs when Woody Harrelson thought the two would get along. He costarred with Lawrence in The Hunger Games and with Stone in Zombieland, and decided to give Stone Lawrence’s number. “She texted me that she got my number from Woody. I replied, ‘F— off!’ And we’ve been really good friends ever since,” the mother! star said.

“She may not even know this,” Stone told Vanity Fair, “but there was definitely a time early on where I was like, ‘OH HEY MY EGO IS GOING NUTS SHE’S GO GREAT AND VIBRANT AND TALENTED I’M SCREWED I’LL NEVER WORK AGAIN GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD.’ Then I chilled the f— out — and remembered we’re completely different and there is room for everyone, even if it’s an industry that doesn’t really seem to support that idea up front.”
