Ed Burns finally marries Christy Turlington. Bono reportedly gives away the bride, before such guests as Sting and Vin Diesel

After three years, two engagements, and one breakup, actor/writer/director Edward Burns finally married retired supermodel Christy Turlington on Saturday. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the nuptials took place before a reportedly small group of family and high-powered friends, including Sting and Vin Diesel, with U2’s Bono giving away the Galliano-gowned bride (her father passed away two years ago).

Burns, 35, and Turlington, 34, met three years ago at a charity event. Within six months, they were engaged, but they postponed their wedding, set for October 2001, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. In fact, they postponed it for so long that they broke up, but they got back together a few months ago.

The couple wed in a Catholic ceremony at Saints Peter and Paul’s Church in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, then held a reception at the city’s Asian Art Museum. It’s the first marriage for both, after many high-profile romances. Turlington dated Jason Patric for five years, as well as Christian Slater and screenwriter Roger Wilson. Burns, currently on screen opposite Dustin Hoffman in ”Confidence,” has frequently dated the women he’s cast in his movies, from high-school sweetheart Maxine Bahns (who played his love interest in his first two writing/directing efforts, ”The Brothers McMullen” and ”She’s The One”) Lauren Holly (”No Looking Back”), and Heather Graham (”Sidewalks of New York”).
